<title>Engine Company 9 Dumps House</title>
<description>Just after 9pm the box assignment was struck out for a building fire in the 1300 block of Burton Lane, Darby Township. Police quickly arrived and reported a Working House Fire with a Subject Trapped on the 2nd floor. Engine9-2 with 5 hit the street along with numerous other companies. Engine9-2 took the side street and stretched a handline to the rear while crews also grabbed a handline and stretched into the 1st floor. Medics reported the subject was removed prior to Fire Dept. Arrival. Crews were pulled from the structure due to deteriorating conditions and the floor starting to burn through from the basement. Crews darkened down the fire from the exterior and then re-entered the structure for finial extinguishment and overhaul. Crews spent several hours performing extensive salvage and overhaul operations looking for hidden pockets of fire. Apparatus from Sharon Hill on scene were Engine9-1, 9-2, 9-3, and Utility9-8A.</description>

<title>Rush Hour RIT & Engine Run to Lansdowne</title>
<description>This morning around 7:30am the box assignment was struck out for 146 S Lansdowne Ave, Landon Court Apts, Lansdowne for a Building fire reported to be a car inside a garage. Engine 9-2 with 8 quickly hit the street along with Engine 19. Engine 9-2 arrived on scene as the 2nd Arriving Engine and secured a water supply while also setting up for RIT Activities. Engine 9-3 arrived with additional personnel and Command utilized a few firefighters to assist in checking for extension. Fire was placed under control and the RIT was disbanded, Crews assisted companies on scene with picking up and restoring the apparatus.</description>

<title>Good luck to Firefighter Graham</title>
<description>Firefighter J. Graham will leave tomorrow morning to begin his traveling to his new home at a Boot Camp for the United States Army. Firefighter Graham has served with the Sharon Hill Fire Company for several years now and has held the positions of Firefighter. Graham will be serve for 3 years after boot camp for the Army. As a good bye token crews held one last drill today in honor of joey with the topic of drill being his choice. The Sharon Hill Fire Company, and its Members and Officers would like to wish Joe the best of luck with his future endeavours and cant wait for Joey to return from the Armed Services and visit us.</description>

<title>Winter Storm Brings Sveral Runs</title>
<description>With the snowfalls creeping close to 2ft of snow Ambulance Runs were upgraded to recieve an Engine as well to assist EMS Crews in patient treatment and removing the pts. from the residences. Engine9-1 was staffed with a crews to handle EMS Emergencies along with several of the crew memebrs being EMT-B&#39;s. Several times due to road conditions Engine9-1 arrived first and started patient care and treatment. At the End of the Storm in all the Crews handled 5 assignments in a 24hour period as well as keeping the ramp and sidewalks clear to respond to emergencies. </description>

<title>Box Alarm followed by RIT Run to Lansdowne</title>
<description>As crews prepared for the incoming winter storm the box assignment was struck out for 700 Block of Bonsall Ave for a Reported Dryer Fire. Engine9-1 and 9-2 made the response to the assignment. Just as companies were clearing the call Fireboard advised units they were now being dispatched in the area of Baltimore &amp; Highland, Lansdowne for a Building Fire with numerous calls. Just as the engines began to divert 19-9 arrived and reported he had a working fire at the Dunkin Donuts with fire showing from the roof. Engine9-1 and 9-2 assumed the RIT duties on Side A and also setup a 2nd crew on Side B due to the size of the crew. Crews stoodby and assisted in wrapping up after the fire was placed under control and the RIT was released. Crews made it back to the station just in time to avoid the start of the snowfall.</description>

<title>RIT Run to House fire in Lansdowne</title>
<description>Early Sat Morning just before 6am the box assignment was rung out for 18 Ardmore Ave, Lansdowne for a reported house fire. Police quickly arrived and reported it was a working fire and everybody was out. The assignment brought up 19 (Lansdowne), 20 (Drexel Hill), 03 (Clifton Heights), RIT-09 (Sharon Hill), and Mercy EMS Units. Engine9-2 with 5 quickly hit the streets and arrived just after companies went in service. Crews threw multiple ladders on all side of the building and stoodby while companies operated. Due to having a large contingent of crew members, command borrowed 3 members to check the 3rd floor for extension. Crews evaluated conditions and returned to there positions on the RIT Team. Command released Rit Company 09 after 1hour of operation.</description>

<title>Passing of Member James C Childs Jr</title>
<description>Sharon Hill Fire Company regrets to announce the passing of past member Mr James C. Childs Jr. Mr Childs was 85 years old when he passed away at home. Below is an article from the DelcoTimes.com: Mr. Childs was a 1941 graduate of Eddystone High School.Mr. Childs served in the Navy as a boatswain&rsquo;s mate second class on the USS Massachusetts B.B. 59 during World War II. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart, participated in the Battle of Casablanca and was a plank owner of the USS Massachusetts.After his Navy service, Mr. Childs joined the Marine Corps and achieved the rank of staff sergeant.He was a life member of VFW Post 7213 in Norwood and a life member of Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion.He was also a life member and past officer of the Colwyn Fire Co., and a member of Darby Fire Patrol No. 2, Darby Fire Co. No. 1 and the Sharon Hill Fire Co.He was the widower of Audrey A. Childs and the brother of the late Ralph Childs and Aileene Yeager.Survivors: Daughters, Nancy Brown of Franklinville, N.J., Elizabeth Carry of Darby, Beatrice Dreyer of the Holmes section of Ridley Township and Deborah Gallion of Wilmington, Del.; sons, James Childs III of New Freedom, Robert Childs of Cherry Hill, N.J., and Scott Childs of Morton; caregivers, Frank and Dana McBride; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews.Service: 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. James Episcopal Church, 11th and Lincoln avenues, Prospect Park.Visitation: 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at the church and after 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church.Burial: Arlington Cemetery, Drexel Hill.</description>

<title>Engine9-1 arrives on house well involved</title>
<description>While Engine 9-2 with a crew was out drilling the box assignment was struck out for the 1000 block of Clifton Ave, Darby Township for a reported building fire. Engine9-1 with 5 hit the street just after it was upgraded to a working building fire. Engine9-1 picked up a hydrant on the way in due to it being a confirmed working fire. Engine9-1 arrived with a 2 story single family dwelling 1st floor well involved with exposure to a apartment building on the Bravo Side of the strucutre. Crews split up and placed in service the deck gun on the Engine and also stretched a 2 1/2 blitz line to protect the exposure. Once the bulk of the fire was knocked down crews initiated an interior attack to find any remaining fire. </description>

<title>Engine9-1 arrives with a Kitchen well off</title>
<description>Just before 7:30pm the box assignment was struck out for a residence on Bartlett Ave, Sharon Hill. The ticket brought in 09 (Sharon Hill), 05 (Glenolden), 01 (Folcroft), RIT-19 (Lansdowne), and Mercy EMS Units. Engine9-1 with 6 arrived and found a 3story twin with heavy smoke showing from Side A &amp; B. Upon further investigation fire was found venting from a window on the 1st floor rear. Engine9-1&#39;s crew placed in service an 1 3/4 attack line with an aggressive interior attack. Crews quickly knocked down the bulk of the fire in the kitchen while the crew also handjacked a supply line to the hydrant. Tower5&#39;s crew assisted with ventilation and opening up while Telesquirt01&#39;s crew stretched a backup line to the rear of the structure through a side door. Crews had the fire under control within 30mins. Fire Marshall&#39;s Office is currently investigating.</description>
